"Hangover" Already On Way to Biggest "R" Comedy Ever
Thursday returns (more than $30 million) indicate "Hangover Part Two" is sure to establish the record for the best all-time opening weekend for an R-rated comedy.
Deadline is posting Friday-Sunday projections of $80 million, a total that would obliterate the old mark of $50 million set by "Jackass 3D." The five-day holiday weekend estimate could surpass $120 million.
"Kung Fu Panda 2" looks poised for a good haul as well. It's a nice movie, exceptionally well-animated. Will DreamWorks Animation quit while it's ahead? Certainly not. The company is now reportedly thinking of making at least five of them. I guess that makes Po is the new Shrek. DreamWorks likes them chunky.
