Kerry Sullivan knows New Jersey gets a bad rap. That's why she created Jersey Collective, an Instagram account dedicated to sharing the beauty of her home state and its residents.

The Monmouth County resident came up with the idea to debunk the "weird perceptions" she believes non-New Jersey residents have about the state. The Instagram, a photo sharing social network, is run by a different citizen photographer each week to shoot different parts of New Jersey with his or her smartphone. Sullivan told KYW Newsradio that everyone is welcome to participate."We don't limit it to people who are professional photographers," she said. This week 13-year-old Instagram user and Freehold, NJ resident @taahasid is in charge of the Instagram account.

Jersey Collective also has a Tumblr page, on which the moderator interviews the Instagram user running the Jersey Collective Instagram each week. The group also hosts "Insta" meet-ups, in which users connected to the Instagram gather in person and take photos.

The Jersey Collective Instagram account boasts over 2,600 followers and more than 700 posts. Users typically post new photos multiple times per day.
