Car dealers drive away cold with coats for kids Oct. 24

The next time someone in your presence makes an unflattering remark about auto salesmen, think about the following project:

This month, the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation will distribute approximately 22,500 new winter coats to needy children in the five-county region of Philadelphia with its 2011 'Driving Away the Cold' program.

A total of 3,108 new coats will be given out in Montgomery County. A delivery will take take place on Monday, October 24, at 1:30 p.m. at the Lansdale branch of the North Penn YMCA at 608 East Main Street in Lansdale.

"This program exemplifies philanthropy to the fullest extent," said Scott Lustgarten, president of the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation. "It's all about people helping people."

Started in January 2008, Driving Away the Cold is a philanthropic initiative developed by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation. Its mission: to warm children all over the Philadelphia area who might otherwise go to school with no winter coat.
