Montgomery County health and public safety officials have declared a "Code Blue" emergency for cold weather.
The warning starts at 6 p.m. Thursday and ends at 6 p.m. Monday. During that time, county agencies will provide shelter, food and clothing to people in need -- primarily the homeless.
Families can seek shelter at the Salvation Army in Pottstown or Norristown. In addition, 50 single beds are available at the County Homeless Outreach Center in Building 53 of the Norristown State Hospital. Transportation may be provided.
A code blue is declared when the temperature or wind chill is forecast to dip below 20 degrees.
