Montco is short 100-plus poll inspectors

The county is seeking volunteers to serve as local election board judges, minority and majority inspectors for Tuesday's primary election.

The Montgomery County Election Board needs volunteers to oversee local polling places for Tuesday's election.

As of Thursday morning, the county had 16 openings for Judge of Election, more than 40 openings for Majority Inspector and about 50 openings for Minority Inspectors.

All of the positions are temporary, filling vacancies or retirements.  Long-term inspectors and judges will be voted in on Tuesday's ballots.

Volunteers must be Montgomery County residents who are registered to vote.  The positions are paid.  Political parties usually nominate people to fill vacancies, but if you want to fill an open seat, you can contact Voter Services Interim Director Michael Paston at mpaston@montcopa.org, or call 610-278-3277.

The Election Board will reconvene Monday at 1 p.m. at One Montgomery Plaza to vote on the final list.
