Cowboys loss opens door for Eagles, Giants

The NFC East picture has become quite simple - for one week at least.

If the Eagles beat the Giants tonight, they will take over sole possession of first place at 9-4.

If the Giants come out victorious, we have ourselves a three-way tie atop the division with three games remaining.

The Cowboys opened the door for the logjam, falling to the Chargers this evening, 20-17, in Dallas. It was their second straight loss, dropping their record to 3-8 in December under Wade Phillips.

Dallas had a scary moment in the fourth quarter as one of the league's best pass rushers, DeMarcus Ware, was carted off the field. The initial diagnosis for him is a sprained neck.

After the injury, Philip Rivers connected with Vincent Jackson for a 39-yard gain to set up the game-winning touchdown to tight end Antonio Gates.

It gets no easier for Dallas. The Cowboys take on the undefeated Saints on Saturday night.
