Eagles check out 'Bama CB, Stanford RB
The Eagles brought in Alabama cornerback Javier Arenas for an official visit today, according to Chris Steuber of scout.com.
Arenas (5-9, 197) set an SEC record by returning seven punts to the house during his four-year college career.
Steuber has him ranked No. 14 among cornerbacks. NFL.com has him ninth. And Wes Bunting of the National Football Post has him 18th.
If you're a frequent MTC reader, you know I think that cornerback is probably the team's biggest area of need going into the draft.
Some other draft visit/workout updates:
* Stanford RB Toby Gerhart was scheduled to visit with the Eagles this week, a source told Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post. Gerhart (6-0, 231) was a Heisman Trophy finalist last season, rushing for 1,871 yards and 27 touchdowns.
* The Eagles recently made a visit to see Missouri wide receiver Danario Alexander, league sources told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Alexander (6-4 1/2, 215) can't work out for teams because he's recovering from a knee injury he sustained during the Senior Bowl. He led the nation with 1,781 receiving yards last season.
* Arizona State OLB/DE Dexter Davis is scheduled to visit the Eagles on Wednesday, a source told Wilson of the NFP. Davis (6-1, 244) ran the 40 in 4.64 seconds at the combine. He had three sacks last season, but piled up 30 over a four-year career with the Sun Devils.
