Making sense of the Eagles' inactives
Here's a look at the Eagles' inactives for their showdown against the Giants.
Both Asante Samuel and DeSean Jackson will dress for the Eagles today.
That's the good news.
Right tackle, Winston Justice, is out.
That's the bad news.
Taking Justice's place at right tackle will be King Dunlap. Look for the Eagles to give Dunlap plenty of help on that side in the form of Owen Schmitt, Brent Celek and Clay Harbor. That's Vick's blindside, and the Eagles cannot afford to turn the ball over on plays where Vick is crushed with a hit he doesn't see coming.
Here's the full list of Eagles inactives: Brandon Hughes, Stewart Bradley, Keenan Clayton, Austin Howard, Derrick Burgess, Justice, Garrett Mills and Mike Kafka (third QB).
Clayton, nursing a hamstring injury, is inactive for the first time since Week 7. Taking Bradley's place in the starting lineup will be JaMar Chaney. Omar Gaither didn't dress last week (for the second time all season), but he's active today as insurance in the middle.
Daniel Te'o-Nesheim didn't dress last week and had been inactive in four of the previous six games. He'll play today though with Graham out. Burgess, who was signed last week, is inactive.
On the offensive line, Reggie Wells and Nick Cole are the Eagles' two reserve linemen. That likely means that if Dunlap gets injured, Herremans would move to tackle, and either Wells or Cole would take over at left guard. Wells was active last week, but prior to that, had not dressed since Week 7.
The Eagles go with five wide receivers for the second week in a row, as both Chad Hall and Riley Cooper are active. Hall played more snaps last week in four-receiver sets.
