T.O. blames ESPN's Werder

Bizarre game tonight in Dallas, which resulted in a 20-8 win for the Cowboys over the Giants.

love/hate triangle last week, all eyes were on the Cowboys' offense. Romo threw an incompletion intended for Witten with his first pass. And on Dallas' first series, Romo found a wide-open Owens, but T.O. dropped the ball, drawing boos from the crowd at Texas Stadium. According to the broadcast, Owens was booed during pre-game introductions also.
Romo was hit hard all game, suffering a back contusion in the first half, according to the NBC broadcast.
was even reportedly warming up. But Romo didn't miss any time, and the Cowboys rode a strong defensive effort to victory. With the win, Dallas improves to 9-5 on the season. The Cowboys control their own fate for a wild-card spot. If they win out (remaining games vs. the Ravens and at the Eagles), the Cowboys are in.
The Dallas defense sacked
eight times and allowed just 72 yards against the Giants' rushing attack, which was without
. Dallas' 'D' allowed just 13 points last week against the Steelers and delivered another strong outing in this one, surrendering just a pair of field goals.
As for the Romo-Witten-Owens saga, pre-game reports said T.O. told Witten not to speak to him, but the two players were seen communicating throughout the game. Neither put up huge numbers. Witten had five catches for 44 yards. Owens had three for 38. All three players were interviewed after the game by NBC's
. Romo joked that Owens and Witten did a good job of drumming the whole thing up last week. Witten said he didn't know how he got caught in the middle of it. He's just the tight end. And T.O. blamed the whole saga on a lack of professionalism by ESPN's
(see above).
Meanwhile, the Giants no longer look like they are a level above the rest of the NFC. New York's offensive line struggled mightily, Manning took a pounding, and they couldn't run the ball. Right tackle
left the game with an injury. The Giants play the Panthers next weekend on Sunday night, and the winner gets the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. New York has lost back-to-back games after starting out the season 11-1.
