Vick finds success in Eagles' win

With the Eagles leading 13-0 in the third quarter, the offense faced a 3rd-and-1 from the Falcons' 4-yard line.

In came Michael Vick. The Eagles' quarterback took the snap out of the shotgun and showed good patience, following key blocks from Max Jean-Gilles, Jamaal Jackson and Nick Cole before diving into the end zone for a touchdown.

Returning to his old home, Vick scored for the first time this season and later threw for a TD as the Birds routed the Falcons, 34-6.

It was Vick's day. He led the team on to the field before the game and received both boos and cheers when he got on the field in the first quarter.

But by the time the fourth quarter rolled around, the crowd was chanting his name.

Vick finished with four carries for 17 yards and completed his only two pass attempts for 48 yards and a score.

More importantly, the Birds improved to 8-4 on the season and could be tied for the NFC East lead with a Cowboys loss against the Giants.

Other offensive notes:

** Leonard Weaver provided a spark early with a touchdown catch and a 59-yard reception.

** Reggie Brown had a drop on third down, but McNabb came back to him for a 21-yard completion on the next drive. he had two catches for 64 yards.

** Jeremy Maclin limped off the field after returning the opening kickoff. He missed a play or two before joining the offense. Overall, Maclin caught four balls for 83 yards, including a big 59-yard catch and run in the first half.

** When Jason Peters left the game in the first half, Todd Herremans slid over to left tackle. Nick Cole moved to left guard. And Max Jean-Gilles came into the game at right guard. King Dunlap would technically be another option at tackle, but as we saw earlier this season, the coaching staff prefers Herremans to fill in for Peters. Stacy Andrews was once again inactive.
