Warmer weather is just around the corner so you know you need to step up your training for race season. The folks at the ODDyssey Half Marathon Training Team want to help you run stronger with their Philadelphia Bridge Running and Happy Hour Training Program.

This six-week group running program will meet every Tuesday evening starting March 24 at 7 p.m. Everyone will meet at Philadelphia Runner's Center City store and from there, run an out-and-back course on the Ben Franklin Bridge.

"Running bridges is a great way to build strength and mix up your routine a little. Most runners stick to flat routes when they run. This gives them some hill training and the views of both cities are great," said Carl Ewald, executive director of the ODDyssey Half Marathon.

Each run will be about 4.5 miles (5 if you run to the bar) and will finish at Buffalo Billiards where you are invited to kick back, relax with a free Sly Fox craft beer and meet some new running buddies. Don't rush home — stick around for the raffle prizes at the end of each happy hour.

"The Bridge Running Program is one of my favorite things because I get to go for a run, have a beer with friends, and raise money for our local charities," Ewald explained. "It's fun, social and all of the profits are split between the six local charities we run with."

"Each week at the bar, we have a raffle for race entries and running gear. All of the proceeds of the raffle go to the charity that is highlighted that week. One running club and one charity are invited to the run each week. So, runners get to meet the leaders and some members of those organizations while they run and at the Happy Hour," he added.
