Celebrate Earth Day with RUN215's #runcleanphl

The first #runcleanphl event will kick off at 4 p.m. at Paines Park. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. If you can’t make the cleanup, you can still meet them for the 5K fun run, leaving Paines Park at 6 p.m.

For all of you RUN215ers who have been dying to score one of those coveted wristbands (no, just me?) — well here's your chance!

On Wednesday, April 22, you can join founder Jon Lyons and your fellow runners for the inaugural #runcleanphl event. You'll help cleanup Kelly Drive and The Schuylkill Banks, then go on a 5k fun run to World Cafe Live for the official launch party for Sly Fox Brewing Company's SRT (Schuylkill River Trail) Ale.

This is just one of a few initiatives on the horizon for RUN215 in effort to create a positive perception of runners.

"I just think if we're going to use these roads, we should be doing our part to help keep them clean," said Lyons. "#runcleanphl will be an on going event throughout the year with pop up trail or road cleaning; but it can also be as easy as picking up a small piece of trash on one of your regular runs around the city."
