Eliud Ngetich wins 2015 Philadelphia Half Marathon

On a chilly Sunday morning in Philadelphia, 30,000 runners took to the streets as part of the 2015 Philadelphia Marathon and Half Marathon.

On a chilly Sunday morning in Philadelphia, 30,000 runners took to the streets as part of the 2015 Philadelphia Marathon and Half Marathon.

Eliud Ngetich, who trains out of Jacksonville, Florida won the 13.1-mile half marathon race with an unofficial time of 1:03:37.05. Averaging a 4:51 minute per mile pace, Ngetich beat out Girma Gebre, of Washington, D.C., by 0:00.71 to take first place.

Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton, of Santa Fe, NM, led the female runners across the finish line with an unofficial time of 1:09:47.10. Biruktayit Degefa of Albuquerque, NM, finished second with 1:10:21.80.

More than 30,000 runners have competed in the weekend events, including the full marathon, half marathon, Rothman Institute 8k and Kids Fun Run.

On Saturday, in the Rothman Institute 8K, Ngetich came in first place with a time of 23:15. Marielle Hall of Haddonfield, N.J. led the women with a time of 26:03 on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
