Brian Schneider so starved for baseball he accepts managing gig in Marlins farm system

Brian Schneider's solely NL East baseball career continued this week when he signed on to manage the Marlins single A affiliate in Jupiter, Florida.

The Jupiter Hammerheads, last year's Florida State League runners-up to the Lakeland Flying Tigers, will be managed by the Phillies' former backup catcher, who also played for the Expos, Nationals, and Mets in his 13-year MLB career. In Philadelphia, he may be best known for the walkoff home run that spawned Shane Victorino's war drum.

It is the first coaching job of Schneider's post-playing days, and he is starting at the bottom rung of baseball's most poorly-run, much-maligned team, so good luck, Brian!
