Broncos, Chargers will battle each other, nature
The Chargers will face an enemy beyond Peyton Manning's terrifying cannon-arm in today's late game: Mother Nature.
She's already infiltrated several games on the schedule: Green Bay and Philadelphia were supposed to host Wild Card games in the bitter cold. This time, it's high winds that could cause the trouble at Mile High Stadium in Denver.
A National Weather Service rep in Boulder, CO described them as "swirling winds," that could reach 50 mph, or the speed of a cautious minivan on the freeway. Wind advisories have gone up across the region.
The NWS was also cautioning drivers and skiers headed into the mountains, where conditions will grow even more hazardous. The last time Manning played in this sort of situation, against the Patriots, he threw an interception, which is the Peyton Manning equivalent of the world exploding.
Both teams may wind up relying more on the run, if things prove as unstable as we're all imagining they could be. And to be fair, Manning is going up against Tom Brady this time, who had probably just called down a wind strike from Valhalla to destroy his enemies.
