Lehigh Valley Phantoms tie American Hockey League scoring record

When the puck dropped at Wednesday night's game between the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and the Binghamton Senators at the PPL Center in Allentown, people probably thought it would take longer than half a minute to end.

But the Flyers' minor league affiliates took control so quickly and so decidedly that the Senators did not have much time to even blink during their 5-3 loss. The Phantoms' Petr Straka scored 15 seconds in; this was followed by a Jason Akeson goal 12 seconds later, and finally, Andrew Gordon's nonchalant puck got past the Binghamton goaltender at the :36 mark.

Suddenly, it was 3-0, and the Phantoms had tied the American Hockey League record for fastest time to score three goals in succession. The last team to do so was the Hershey Bears, during a 7-1 victory over the Cleveland Barons in 1962.
