Manuel tossed in 3rd inning
Charlie Manuel was tossed in the third inning of Monday afternoon's game against the Braves in Atlanta.
Maybe Charlie Manuel was frustrated with his team's struggles.
Maybe, as was suggested by @JohnSClayton on Twitter, he was just sick of wearing that commemorative white hat.
Or maybe, he really had an issue with the umps.
Whatever the case, Manuel was tossed by Larry Vanover in the third inning of this afternoon's Memorial Day game against the Braves for arguing a call.
The home-plate umpire originally ruled that a pitch by Braves starter Tommy Hanson hit Ross Gload, who is leading off today. But the call was soon reversed.
Joe Blanton, who was on first, moved to second on the initial call. When it was reversed, he was first told to return to first, but the umps corrected themselves again, realizing that Blanton would have advanced to second on the passed ball anyway.
The Phillies lost to the Braves, 9-3, and fell out of first place.
