Baseball: C.H. West beats Paul VI
Winning pitcher Andrew Fisher drove in three runs as Cherry Hill West beat Paul VI, 12-7, on Friday in an Olympic Conference game with major Diamond Classic implications.
Fisher, a senior right-hander who worked 4 2/3 innings, had two doubles as Cherry Hill West won its fourth in a row and improved to 12-5.
Ned Kerr had two doubles and a home run for Paul VI (11-5). The Eagles could have clinched an automatic berth to the Diamond Classic with a victory but the loss means that Bishop Eustace will receive the Olympic National's automatic bid.
Paul VI will be in the mix for an at-large berth, but so will CH West -- which now has a head-to-head victory over PVI on its resume.
The Diamond Classic field will be announced Sunday night.
