Baseball: Schorr leads Audubon past Haddon Twp.

Andrew Schorr pitched a complete game as Audubon seized first place in the Colonial Patriot on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over Haddon Township.

Schorr, a senior left-hander, allowed five hits. He struck out nine, walked two and hit a batter.

Sophomore centerfielder Eric Schorr, Andrew's brother, delivered a two-run double for Audubon (15-4, 10-2). Junior second baseman Juston Jannetti drove in the other Green Wave run witha  sacrifice fly.

Pat Burns pitched a complete game for Haddon Twp. (11-5, 9-3). Burns allowed just four hits and struck out 10.

Both teams have four Colonial games to play. Both will play in the Diamond Classic on Saturday.

The teams have split two regular-season games and could meet again in the SJ Group 1 playoffs.

"Two good pitchers out there," Audubon coach Rich Horan said. "It was just a well-played game."

Schorr, who has signed with East Carolina and has been drawing interest from major-league scouts, threw 112 pitches. He was at his best in pressure situations, striking out the last two hitters with runners on first and third in the fifth, and stiking out the last batter of the game with runners on first and second.

"Every time he needed a pitch, he made it," HT coach Doug Richardson said of Schorr, who is 6-1 on the season.
