Periodontist Mark Snyder won a $1.6 million civil judgment Thursday from his ex-wife Nancy Glass, the former "Evening Magazine" host who now produces shows for A&E, TLC, HGTV and other cable stations.
Snyder sued Glass in Philadelphia Common Pleas court for malicious prosecution. Snyder, who was criminally tried
and acquitted for insurance fraud and theft by deception, alleged that the television personality had provided false information to the District Attorney's office during his fraud case. The case centered around an Aug. 2001 burglary of Snyder's Center City dental office in which he reported about $75,000 worth of equipment, computers and expensive clothing had been stolen.
Snyder, whom bad luck seems to follow, later filed a police report that his car was burglarized in Oct. 2001 while parked in the driveway of the Bryn Mawr home he shared with Glass, his then wife and then in 2004 that a Rolex watch was stolen from his Center City apartment, according to a legal filing in the lawsuit.
Glass filed for divorce in 2002 and both parties have re-married.
"An innocent man was vindicated today," Snyder's attorney Lawrence Woehrle, of Sprague & Sprague, said Thursday night. He also thanked the jury for its service.
Glass, reached Thursday night, said only "We plan to appeal."
