Exene Cervenka rocks on after MS diagnosis. X play here tonight

Los Angeles punk pioneers X are performing tonight at World Cafe Live (3025 Walnut). Just two days ago frontwoman and high priestess of punk Exene Cervenka revealed that she has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

"Apparently, it has been affecting me for quite some time," Cervenka wrote on the band's website. "Although this is obviously unfortunate news, I am choosing to see the positive in it," she writes.

Cervenka calls it ironic that she and X have supported the Sweet Relief charity since it formed in the mid-1990s to aid uninsured musicians. It was formed by musician Victoria Williams who was diagnosed with MS in 1992.

"While this diagnosis will most certainly mean some changes for me, personally, it will not affect my commitments to the current X U.S. tour, nor will it affect my solo album that is slated for release this fall on Bloodshot Records," writes Cervenka who was formerly married to actor Viggo Mortensen.

"My focus will certainly be on maintaining my health--many people remain strong and continue to live their lives as productively as they had before an MS diagnosis and I plan to be one of those people"
