Too Tuff ready to get back in the rap game

DJ Too Tuff is wasting no time making things happen since his release last week from jail. The Tuff Crew member had been locked up on a weed-possession charge that was later dismissed.

DJ Too Tuff is wasting no time making things happen since his release last week from jail. The Tuff Crew member had been locked up on a weed-possession charge that was later dismissed.

The DJ's got a new outlook on life and spent some time at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility working out and reading personal power books by motivational guru Anthony Robbins.

Too Tuff, who grew up as Joseph Hicks at 4th & Girard, years before your hipster girlfriend would have set foot in that neighborhood, is spinning Feb. 1 with Jeru the Damaja and DJ Tat Money at Tritone (1508 South). Tix are available here.

Tuff Crew played a reunion show at Tritone in August which raised money for Too Tuff's legal bills. They hope to do a full reunion soon.

The St. Joe's Prep graduate dropped out of Temple in 1987 to tour full time with the Tuff Crew. Now that he's a free man, he's working on making new music and issuing some unreleased Tuff Crew tracks. He updates fans regularly on his website.
