WATCH: Hero cat saves boy from vicious dog attack

Every so often, perhaps every generation or so, there comes along a cat so brave, that its bravery uplifts the names of cats everywhere. Today, the internet met that cat.

Coming out of Bakersfield, California, the above video shows the hero cat's role in saving a little boy who inexplicably found himself being attacked by a roving dog. That role, as it turns out, was hero, with the cat chasing away the attacking dog before the young boy could be seriously injured.

At the start of the video, simply titled "My cat saved my son," a dog can be seen stalking the young boy, who is riding his bike in slow circles on the opposite side of an SUV.  The dog creeps around the car, rips the boy from his bike, and begins his short-lived attack. Short-lived because, of course, our hero cat. It appears out of nowhere, chasing the dog away from the scene and saving the day.

The victim, for his part, did require some stitches, but is otherwise fine. The internet, though, is ecstatic, with fans lauding the kitty's accomplishments as ones that can redeem cats in the eyes of all people, regardless of pet preference.

A tall order, but if any feline can do it, it's this one.
