Conwell-Egan defeats Aliquippa for first state title

HERSHEY, Pa. -- In a season full of basketball firsts, Conwell-Egan claimed its first state championship, beating District 7's Aliquippa, 62-51, in the PIAA Class AA final at the Giant Center on Saturday afternoon.

LaPri McCray-Pace and Stevie Jordan led C-E with 22 and 20 points, respectively.

Earlier this month, the Eagles won their first postseason game since 1964 -- the school's first year in the Catholic League -- with a city title win against Freire Charter.
