Larry Yarbray was not quite sure.
When was the last time the Chester Clippers had an All-American?
"It had to be sometime in the 60s or 70s," the coach said.
Not since Herman Harris, a 6-foot-4 guard, received the honor in 1973 has a Chester boys' basketball player been named an All-American. Quite possibly, that could change this season.
Rondae Jefferson, the Clippers star forward, was among the 14 Southeastern Pa. nominees on the McDonald's All-American list released on Thursday. Headed for Arizona, Jefferson is the leading scorer for the state's top-team.
"I think my changes are pretty big. It would be so special to to be apart of it," said Jefferson. "Growing up that's a game that everyone wants to play in. I would be beyond hyped."
Harris also went to Arizona and was drafted by the 76ers in the second round of the 1977 NBA Draft. Jefferson met Harris on his visit to Arizona.
