Report: Vikings will likely be without Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart

It appears that the Eagles will not have to face the Vikings' best player today in Minnesota. According to NFL.com's Ian Rappaport, the Vikings will reportedly be without star running back Adrian Peterson. They will also probably be without Peterson's backup, Toby Gerhart.

#Vikings are expected to be without star RB Adrian Peterson (foot) today, as well as without backup Toby Gerhart (hamstring), per source

Adrian Peterson has the 2nd most rushing yards in the NFL this season, with 1221. He trails only the Eagles' LeSean McCoy, who leads Peterson by 84 yards with 1305.

Peterson is a top 5 talent in the NFL, so the impact felt by his loss is obvious. However, Gerhart is also a good player. He has 283 rushing yards on just 36 carries this season, an average of 7.9 yards per carry. Gerhart has rushed for 4.7 yards per carry during his 4-year NFL career.

If indeed Peterson and Gerhart can't go, the Vikings will start Matt Asiata at RB. Asiata has touched the football in an NFL game 9 times in his career.

Three were on rushes, one on a reception, and five on kick returns.

The Eagles have benefited greatly from opposing injuries this season. They didn't have to face Aaron Rodgers, DeMarcus Ware, Reggie Bush, and now possibly Peterson.
