1 Dead in South Philly Double Shooting

A 23-year-old man wounded in a double shooting in South Philadelphia late Thursday night has died.

Around 11:30 p.m., the man and a 22-year-old woman were shot multiple times in a hail of gunfire at 7th and McKean Streets, police said.

The man, whose identity police have yet to release, was shot in his head and body, police said. The woman was shot twice in her right thigh. She was found lying in an abandoned lot a short distance away from the male victim, police said.

She is in stable condition, police said.

Police were still at the scene early this morning and have not released a possible motive or suspects.

Police do not believe the shooting is related to a police-involved shooting that occurred five blocks away at 9th and Mifflin just an hour and half earlier.
