Temple has named veteran coach Stan Hixon its new wide receivers coach, according to a source.
Hixon is the third wide receivers coach to be hired by new coach Geoff Collins. Frisman Jackson was originally retained from former coach Matt Rhule's staff, but he later resigned to take the same position with the Tennessee Titans. The Owls then hired Army wide receivers coach Keith Gaither, but he recently resigned to take the same position at East Carolina.
Hixon, 59, has 36 years of coaching experience beginning in 1980 as running backs coach at Morehead State.
He is a former wide receiver at Iowa State, who had 46 receptions for 776 yards and three TDs in his career, which concluded with his senior season in 1978.
He most recently coached receivers for the Houston Texans from 2014-15 after coaching at Penn State the previous two seasons.
Temple, coming off consecutive 10-4 seasons, will begin spring football practice on Monday.
