Eagles' Pederson praises the play of Brent Celek

Eagles coach Doug Pederson praised tight end Brent Celek, when asked about some of the early season surprises on offense.

Pederson first talked about how quarterback Carson Wentz has impressed everybody with the way he has handled all the pressure of playing in the NFL and with how he has performed.

Then Pederson discussed the 31-year-old Celek, who is in his 10th season with the Eagles. Only long snapper Jon Dorenbos has been with the Eagles longer.

"I look at what our tight ends have done, I look at Brent Celek, he has played special teams, he has taken the bulk of the offensive reps, for an older guy who is so reliable, he has done a nice job" Pederson said.

With Zach Ertz out during Monday's 29-14 win at Chicago due to a rib injury, Celek played 74 percent of the snaps. That was up from 49 percent of the snaps in the opening 29-10 win over Cleveland.

Celek has one reception this year for 11 yards, which came against Cleveland. He had 19-yard reception against Chicago nullified by a holding penalty on center Jason Kelce.

With Ertz ruled out for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh, look for Celek to again log considerable playing time.
