Eagles re-sign DL Cedric Thornton to one-year deal

The Eagles signed starting defensive lineman Cedric Thornton to a one-year deal on Monday. Thornton was a restricted free agent and the team placed a second-round tender on him. By signing the tender, Thornton will make $2.356 million in 2015 and become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Thornton, 26, started every game for the Eagles during the past two seasons. He has ascended from undrafted free agent and practice squad player in 2011, to reserve in 2012, to key contributor during the past two seasons. Coach Chip Kelly has repeatedly offered praise for Thornton, and it's shown in how much the coach trusts him. Thornton played 55 percent of the defensive snaps last season and 59 percent of the snaps in 2013.

The Eagles still have not signed restricted free agent running back Chris Polk or exclusive rights free agent wide receiver Jeff Maehl.
