The Eagles filled their roster with rookie safety Jerome Couplin, who was on the Detroit Lions' practice squad. The Eagles had an open roster spot after releasing cornerback Roc Carmichael on Wednesday.

Couplin, who is 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, played eight games for the Lions this season He had two tackles.

Couplin went undrafted in May out of William & Mary.

The Eagles now have five safeties: Malcolm Jenkins, Nate Allen, Chris Maragos, Chris Prosinski, and Couplin. The signing does not reflect well on Ed Reynolds, the Eagles' fifth-round pick who is still on practice squad.
