Jerry Jones hosts Eagles Thanksgiving dinner

The NFL schedule was released Wednesday night, and the Birds' Thanksgiving date in Dallas was among the highlights.

The NFL announced its 2014 schedule Wednesday evening and the Eagles will open Chip Kelly's second season on Sept. 7, at home against Jacksonville.

Next comes a Monday Night Football visit to Indianapolis, followed by the Sept. 21 hosting of DeSean Jackson and the Redskins. Sept, 28 sees the Birds visiting San Francisco's new stadium, which actually is closer to San Jose.

The Eagles then host the Rams and the Giants Oct. 5 and 12 -- the latter for a Sunday night prime-time game -- before hitting their bye week Oct. 19. They return Oct. 26 at Arizona, then go to Houston Nov. 2, before the Carolina Panthers visit for a Monday night encounter Nov. 10. That sets up a short-week trip to Green Bay Nov. 16.

After hosting Tennessee Nov,. 23, the Birds visit Dallas for Thanksgiving, Nov. 27. That gives them a nine-day break before they welcome the Super Bowl champion Seahawks Dec. 7.

The schedule closes with three NFC East games in a row -- Dec. 14 against the Cowboys, Saturday, Dec. 20 at Washington, and Dec. 28 at the Giants.
