Flyers winger Dale Weise was suspended for three games by the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Friday for Thursday's shoulder-to-the-head hit on Anaheim's Korbinian Holzer.

Weise was not penalized for the hit during the game.

With this suspension, Nick Cousins figures to move to the third line, and Roman Lyubimov would likely go to the fourth line.

After the second-period hit, Ryan Getzlaf tripped Weise and went to the penalty box.

The Flyers had seven power plays - five more than Anaheim - but dropped a 3-2 decision. They managed just one goal and five shots on their power plays.

Anaheim's Josh Manson elbowed rookie Travis Konecny in the head in the opening period and received a penalty, but does not have a hearing scheduled. After Friday's practice Konecny said it was his fault he was hit in the head because he ducked into the elbow.

Weise, who has no points in four games, is among the Flyers practicing Friday in Voorhees. He refused to comment on the incident.

The Flyers (1-2-1) host Carolina (1-1-2) on Saturday night.
