Flyers Notes: Grossmann out tonight
As expected, Flyers defenseman Nick Grossmann wasn't cleared to play in Tuesday's game against the visiting Calgary Flames. Grossman was injured during Saturday's 4-2 home win over the New York Rangers when he was hit on the head and shoulder while blocking a shot.
"He is just not ready to go," coach Craig Berube said before the game.
Grossmann missed 10 games earlier this season with a shoulder injury. In 53 games he has four goals, five assists and is a plus-4.
Goulbourne signed
The Flyers signed left wing Tyrell Goulbourne to a three-year entry contract. The 21-year-old Goulbourne was a third round selection (72nd overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He is in his fifth season with the Kelowna Rockerts of the Western Hockey League and has 17 goals and 21 assists in 55 games.
Impressed with Johnny Hockey
This was the first time that the Flyers have faced Calgary this season but Berube has studied the Flames on tape and is highly impressed with Gloucester Catholic product Johnny Gaudreau. In his first season, the 21-year-old Gaudreau was named to the NHL all-star game as an injury replacement. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound left wing entered the game with 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points.
