It appears 'Ghost' is staying with Flyers

Nothing official yet, but it looks as if Shayne Gostisbehere is staying with the Flyers.

The rookie defenseman has fueled the Flyers' 8-2-2 surge.

Defenseman Mark Streit was expected to come off the long-term injured reserve list Sunday, but it now appears it won't be until Wednesday. The Flyers will have to make cap room for him, and are expected to send someone to the AHL's Phantoms.

But Gostisbehere boarded the team's charter to California on Saturday morning and took part in their practice Saturday afternoon. That seems to indicate he will stay.

The Flyers have some other options, including trying to send R.J. Umberger or Nick Schultz through waivers to go to the Phantoms.

Gostiosbehere has been sensational. In 18 games, the Florida native  has 14 points, including three overtime goals, and the Flyers are 10-4-4 since he was promoted from the Phantoms.

The Flyers are on an 8-2-2 run that started when Gostisbehere scored in over time to defeat Nashville on Nov. 27. They begin a three-game road trip in Anaheim on Sunday, then have stops in San Jose and Los Angeles.

Streit said he needs a few more practices before returning.
