Fire sale: Bastardo traded to Pittsburgh

The Phillies slow winter is over. Following reported deal that would send Jimmy Rollins to Dodgers, which is said to still be in the process of being finalized, the Phillies have traded lefthanded reliever Antonio Bastardo to the Pirates.

First, the longest tenured athlete in Philly.

Now, the longest tenured Phillies pitcher not named Cole Hamels.

Less than hour after reports surfaced that former MVP, 4-time Gold Glove winner and 3-time All-Star Jimmy Rollins had been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, a deal that is still being finalized, the Phillies have shipped off Antonio Bastardo, too.

On the penultimate day of the Winter Meetings, the Phillies have sent Bastardo to Pittsburgh for minor league pitcher Joely Rodriguez. Rodriguez is a 23-year-old lefthander who went 6-11 with a 4.84 ERA in 30 games (21 starts) at Double-A Altoona in 2014.
