Phillies' uniforms ranked second by ESPN's Uni-Watch
The Phillies are going to doing a lot of tinkering over the next few years. Trades will be executed, positions will be swapped, moves will be decried and young players will be given chances. And all the while, everyone will complain or brag about how they aren't bothering to watch. Same old, same old.
But there will be no experimentation as far as the wardrobe goes, and for that, ESPN's Paul Lukas of Uni-Watch has honored the team, putting them at No. 2 in all of baseball as far as their garments go, behind only the... Cardinals?! Oh come on. Can they lose at anything?
As Lukas puts it:
"This is how it's done, kids: First-rate home and road unis and a very solid retro alternate."
Still, it's a higher placement than the Phillies got last year, and they haven't changed a thing. A successful philosophy in the uniform department maybe, but thankfully not one being applied by the front office. Anymore.
While the addition of cream-colored home alternates and occasional throwbacks to the maroon and powder blue days, which just looked great, are nice, the team does not have a long history of uniform changes. There was that time in the '90s when they thought about putting "Philadelphia" on the away jerseys, but somebody thankfully pulled the plug on that.
In other words, maybe let's just start playing some baseball, please.
