Ryan Howard hitting seventh for second consecutive game

Ryan Howard will once again hit seventh in Ryne Sandberg's lineup on Friday night. Thursday's 5-2 loss signified the first time the longtime cleanup hitter hit seventh since Aug. 21, 2006, when he was less than three weeks into his MVP season.

WASHINGTON --- Ryan Howard will once again hit seventh in Ryne Sandberg's lineup on Friday night. Thursday's 5-2 loss signified the first time the longtime cleanup hitter hit seventh since Aug. 21, 2006, when he was less than three weeks into his MVP season.

Here's the full lineup for Friday night:

1. Odubel Herrera CF

2. Freddy Galvis SS

3. Chase Utley 2B

4. Jeff Francoeur RF

5. Cody Asche 3B

6. Carlos Ruiz C

7. Ryan Howard 1B

8. Darin Ruf LF

9. Sean O'Sullivan RHP

This lineup will face Max Scherzer, making his second consecutive start against the Phillies. The Nationals ace allowed just one run on six hits over six innings on Sunday at Citizens Bank Park.
