3:43: Ken Giles entered for the Phillies to pitch the ninth inning. He walked Jordan Lennerton but retired the next three Tigers in order.

3:37: Jake Diekman, already consistently hitting 97 miles per hour on the Bright House Field radar gun, allows a run in the eighth inning. Tigers extend lead to 6-0.

3:25: The Phillies go down in order in the seventh. Grady Sizemore struck out swinging, Carlos Ruiz flew out and Freddy Galvis grounded out. Jake Diekman in to pitch the eighth.

3:06: The Tigers added two more runs in the sixth inning off Sean O'Sullivan. The righthander allowed two solo home runs, to J.D. Martinez and Steven Moya. Nefi Ogando pitching now for the Phillies.

2:27: Joba Chamberlain came in to pitch for the Tigers. Domonic Brown leads off the inning. He jumped ahead, 2-0, before reaching on an infield ground ball. Ryan Howard grounded into a fielders choice and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Darin Ruf walked to give the Phillies two runners on base with one out. Grady Sizemore and Carlos Ruiz each flew out to end in the inning.

2:16: Sean O'Sullivan pitches a scoreless fourth inning for the Phillies.

2:07: Apologies for the lack of updates. Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. and head athletic trainer Scott Sheridan just updated us on Cliff Lee. You can read that here. Meanwhile, Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez left the game in the third inning after taking a Jose Iglesias line drive off his leg. Before exiting, the Cuban righthander allowed three runs on five hits. Seth Rosin replaced him. Sean O'Sullivan will start the fourth inning for the Phillies.

12:47: Good afternoon from Bright House Field in sunny Clearwater. We're about 18 minutes away from first pitch between the Phillies and Detroit Tigers.
