76ers mascot revealed prematurely

As the 76ers announced in January, the team is ready to unveil a long-awaited mascot on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, like your nosy cousin blabbing and ruining your family's surprise party, Grantland opened 76ers fans' present a day early and revealed a fluffy, blue dog.

Meet Franklin, who handled the premature meeting with class via Twitter:

Since the party has already been planned, Franklin will still be revealed publicly for the first time at the Franklin Institute as scheduled.

The Franklin era appears to have gotten off to a shaky start, but Franklin's twitter bio shows that the mascot is looking for better things down the road: "Let's mark our territory together, Philly."
