'Best' & 'Worst' awards: Sixers vs Celtics

My look at some of the best and worst performances from the 76ers' 113-108 victory over the Boston Celtics on Monday night at Wells Fargo Center:

Best performance:  I really wanted to give this Michael Carter-Williams.  So much so that I had to talk myself out of giving it to him.  And believe me, it was hard. But I couldn't overlook what Rajon Rondo did in a losing effort. The Celtics point guard was two points shy of a triple-double. He finished with eight points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds. I must admit – outside of Kevin Durant – Rondo has been my favorite player to watch operate on the court this season.

Worst performance: What's up with James Anderson? The Sixers shooting guard proved he has talent with his 30-point performances against the Houston Rockets.  However, he also disappears and/or struggles in certain games. Monday night was one of them. He missed seven of his eight shot attempts en route to finishing with six points. He did have six rebounds. That's nice, but the Sixers want him to be a scorer and struggled doing that against the Celtics.

Best defensive performance:  Carter-Williams gets this one.  The Sixers point guard was playing as if his defensive effort could make dismal season end sooner.  He had two shots, a game-high four steals and 13 of his game-high 14 rebounds came on defense. Yes, the rookie of the year was a beast!

Best performance by a Sixer: Carter-Williams also wins this award. The Syracuse product made 9 of 13 shots to finish with a team-high 21 points. He also had six assists.

Worst statistic: This award goes to Avery Bradley's three-point shooting. The Celtics guard made 2 of 11 attempts for 18 percent.  Yes, it was a rough night for Bradley.

Best statistic: This goes to the Celtics' shooting in the first quarter. They made 14 of 22 shots (63.6 percent) in the first 12 minutes.
