'Best' and 'Worst' awards: Sixers vs. Magic

My look at some of the best and worst performances and happenings from the 76ers' 126-125 victory over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Center:

Best performance: It would be insane to not give this award to Michael Carter-Williams even though Orlando's Arron Afflalo finished with a career-high 43 points.  Carter-Wiliams had a hand in seven of the Sixers eight points in the second overtime. His foul shot with 41 seconds into the session gave his 119-118 advantage and the lead for good. Then he assisted on a James Anderson a layup before scoring his own layup to make it a 123-120 game with 2:32 remaining. Carter-Williams then assisted on Thaddeus Young's running jumper to give the Sixers a five-point cushion.  The point guard finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to post his first career triple-double on the night he was named the Eastern Conference rookie of the month.

Worst performance: Lavoy Allen couldn't avoid receiving this award. The Sixers reserve post player was sleep walking on the court.  He missed all four of his shot attempts while failing to score a point. The Temple product had more fouls (four) than rebounds (three).

Best performance in a losing effort: This was an easy one, because Afflalo was dominating at time.  The Magic guard became the first Orlando player to score 40 plus points since Dwight Howard scored 45 points against the Golden State Warriors on Jan. 12, 2012.

Best defensive performance: This award goes to Ronnie Price. The Magic reserve guard had three steals, a blocked shot and five of six rebounds came on the defensive end.

Worst statistic:  This goes to the Magic's three-point shooting. They shot just 23.1 percent (6-for-26) from beyond the three-point line.

Best statistic: This goes to the Sixers' rebounding. They had a commanding 56-34 advantage against the Magic.

Best of the best:  The 10,061 in attendance witnessed a historic moment. This game marked the first time that two rookies recorded triple-doubles in the same NBA game. Orlando guard Victory Oladipo finished with career highs of 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to go with Carter-Williams' triple-double.
