Brown looks forward to getting Grant back

76ers coach Brett Brown doesn’t want Jerami Grant to become the forgotten one.

76ers coach Brett Brown doesn't want Jerami Grant to become the forgotten one.

However, that could happen if the rookie forward doesn't hurry up and return from a right ankle sprain that sidelined him the first three preseason games. The 6-foot-8, 210-pounder hasn't practiced since being hospitalized with dehydration two weeks ago at training camp. Grant, who left Syracuse following his sophomore season, is listed day-to-day.

"We've all seen that sometimes," brown said Sunday, "if you let it, if you miss training camp and the first part of training, it can be out of sight, out of mind until all-star break. I remind myself of that where I can't let it because he had a hell of a summer."

The athletic role player improved his shooting while working with Sixers shooting coach Eugene Burroughs.

Grant also had solid summer-league performances shortly after being selected in the second round of June's NBA draft.

He averaged 7.2 points, 3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks and 19.6 minutes in five appearances with two starts in the Orlando Pro Summer League. Grant then averaged 6.5 points and 5.7 rebounds in 18.8 minutes during six games in the NBA Summer League. He made one start in that summer league.
