Michael Carter-Williams will be 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year

Michael Carter-Williams won the NBA's Rookie of the Month award four out of a possible six times this past season, and it appears as though his rookie season will be capped with another accolade.

Carter-Williams will be named the 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year, a source told Philly.com early Saturday afternoon.

This information has since been confirmed by NJ.com.

The award comes as no surprise, as Carter-Williams led all rookies in rebounding, scoring, assists, steals, and double-doubles, while averaging 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, and 6.2 rebounds per game.

Carter-Williams' inspired play was one of the few bright spots in what was a struggle of a season for the Sixers, who haven't had a Rookie of the Year award-winner since Allen Iverson.
