NBA salary cap set for $99 million
The 76ers have the most money in the NBA to spend in free agency.
The 76ers have a lot of money to spend in free agency.
The team has $61 million tied up in contracts for the 2017-18 season before calculating the salaries of first-overall pick Markelle Fultz and 2016 draft pick Furkan Korkmaz. But the league announced Saturday morning the salary cap has been set for $99 million, with the luxury tax level at $119.2 million.
The Sixers must spend $89.1 million in salaries to reach the salary cap floor.
Looking to keep future roster flexibility, the Sixers are interested in offering lucrative one-year deals to free agents. That's that they did Saturday with free agent shooting guard J.J. Redick, who agreed to a one-year, $23-million deal to come to Philadelphia.
The league's salary cap was $94.1 million this past season.
