Sixers partner with Special Olympics Pennsylvania

TORONTO – The 76ers announced a community partnership with Special Olympics Pennsylvania on Friday. Rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams will serve as the franchise's spokesperson for the joint venture.

As a way to tip off the partnership, Carter-Williams will hold host a holiday shopping event for 10 Special Olympians and their families on Wednesday.

"Sports have taught me so much in life, and I'm proud to serve as the spokesperson for an organization that makes it possible for everyone to play," Carter-Williams said in a statement. "I look forward to working with Special Olympics Pennsylvania and its athletes throughout the season and into the future."

The team will have a Special Olympics Pennsylvania Celebration Night when it hosts the Detroit Pistons at Well Fargo Center on March 29.
