Free bootcamp: Weston Fitness and Snap Kitchen turn Cira Green into workout playground
Summertime is often jam-packed with vacation getaways and celebrations with friends and family so it can be hard to stay motivated to work out regularly. To help keep you challenged in the dog days of summer, Weston Fitness and Snap Kitchen have combined forces to offer a free 60-minute boot-camp style course that utilizes the city's first elevated park, Cira Green located at Cira Centre South in University City.
"We want to teach people that as long as you have space your body is capable of doing amazing things," Jordan Hankins, training director at Weston Fitness told philly.com. "Sometimes all it takes is a little motivation and a new perspective on how to move!"
Boot campers meet every second and fourth Monday of the month this summer at Snap Kitchen in Rittenhouse Square and run about .5 miles to Cira Green where Hankins and other featured trainers lead station based body weight circuits using the versatile landscape at Cira Green.
The structure of the course is modeled on Revolve Fit, Weston Fitness' flagship training program that combines cardio and strength training through the use of kettlebells, TRX, battle rope, plyometric boxes, and bodyweight. This is for ALL LEVELS so modifications will be provided for every exercise.
"The mission of the workout is to provide you with new ideas on how to make an outdoor landscape your workout playground," Jordan Hankins told philly.com. "There are so many great spots to workout outdoors so we want our boot campers to take full advantage this summer."
The sweat fest ends back at Snap Kitchen (another .5 mile run) where you can browse their shelves for healthy foods not only for post-workout meals, but for meals for the rest of the week. Their associates will be available to discuss 21 day commits, their dietitian-designed Snap Kitchen Meal Plans.
Hankins calls the partnership between Weston Fitness and Snap Kitchen "a no brainier".
"Their meals are not only convenient, they are packed with nutrient dense, whole ingredients that are in line with our philosophy that makes up a balanced diet. They make eating on the go super easy to do and since they are steps from Weston Fitness, our members now have another healthy option for their post-workout meal or snack," he said.
Hankins added that after the last boot camp on August 22, they will hold a drawing and give away one $100 gift card to Snap Kitchen and $100 credit towards Weston Fitness' Revolve Fit group or 1:1 training system. To be eligible for the prizes you have to attend at least three of six boot camps this summer.
