How’s your balance? See if you pass the test

If the safety of your body is hanging in the balance, start stability training now by taking this body balance test.

Is your body well balanced?  Exercise is divided into four components - strength, endurance, flexibility and balance.  Most of our fitness focus is on the first three components and unfortunately, balancing skills aren't seen as important or hip until someone falls and breaks one.  If the safety of your body is hanging in the balance, start stability training now by taking this body balance test.

Exercise Explanation:  Unless you were a stork in a past life, standing on one leg is not a natural stance.  The body was designed with two legs to help evenly distribute our weight.  Once we remove one of these support beams, maintaining your balance is a challenge.  Similarly, shifting your mass so the feet are in a tandem position (one foot in front of the other), puts your stability to the test.  The following tests are used to evaluate your balance.

1-Legged Tandem Stand

Tick Tock Clock Stand

1-Legged Standup

Don't let gaps in your exercise routine throw off your balance.
