Wearing pink after dark can save lives in more than one way with the new "Pink After Dark" campaign recently kicked off by 4id, a West Conshohocken company that creates safety products for athletes.
4id is selling new pink LED visibility products to be worn when active out of doors at night, and ten percent of the proceeds of each sale will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a nonprofit organization in Bala Cynwyd which provides programs and services for people with early-stage and metastatic breast cancer.
The purpose of this campaign is two-fold. First, to increase the visibility and safety of anyone who is active outdoors after dark. In 2013 alone, over 4700 pedestrians and over 740 bicyclists were killed in collisions with cars; a large percentage of these accidents occurred after dark. Second, to help breast cancer patients and their families.
"Our company has always worked to support charities since the day we started. As a survivor myself, working to support Living Beyond Breast Cancer is a perfect fit on every level," said Shelly Fisher, CEO of 4id in West Conshohocken, PA.
The new visibility products include PowerArmz which attach to the arm with an adjustable Velcro strap, PowerSpurz, which attach to your sneakers and PowerBudz, small light-up earphones. All of them offer a choice between continuous or pulsing light.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer CEO Jean A. Sachs, MSS, MLSP, said, "LBBC is excited to benefit from the new pink LED safety bands as part of the 'Pink After Dark' campaign. The light-up products are a visible way to honor those currently diagnosed with breast cancer or remember those who are no longer here."
The campaign runs until October so there is plenty of time to shop. Go to the charity-shop.com website to purchase any of these products and you will get a 50% discount off the usual manufacturer's suggested retail price.
