Beautiful You: Kylie Jenner 2014 American Music Awards hair and makeup inspiration

HAIR

Bold hair color without bleaching. Bright-colored hair, especially pastels, is in style right now, whether it be highlights, a full head of color or ombre. I decided to try it myself using the Garnier Color Styler.

I was inspired by Kylie Jenner's hair at the 2014 American Music Awards.

Who doesn't love an easy, mess-free hair dye? It's as simple as 6 easy steps.

  1. Begin by protecting your hands with gloves; then shake bottle well, squeeze a small amount of product on your hands, rub the product together and apply to your hair.

  2. Let dry and then brush through hair -- no rinsing needed!

  3. Garnier claims that this product lasts 2-3 shampoos. It's so easy and the results are amazing! I especially like that you don't have to be committed to the color.

Change it up as often as you'd like. It comes in five bold colors: Blue Burst (this is the one I used), Pink Pop, Purple Mania, Bronze Attitude and Red Temptation. Garnier Color Styler, $7.99, is sold at your local drugstore and garnierusa.com.

MAKEUP

According to news.instyle.com, Kylie Jenner's makeup artist, Rob Scheppy, kept the eyes very simple and neutral using very earthy tones. Most of the attention is focused on her big, voluminous faux lashes.

For the lips, he lined and filled them in with Mac's lip pencil in Burgundy, adding a balm on top for some added moisture. This is a very fall-appropriate lip color that matched her dress perfectly.

Tip: For that signature "Kylie lip," slightly over-line your lips, just enough to look fuller but natural.
